(Updated to new brand in 2013)

I worked for Rowan-Cabarrus as the full-time college web designer (2011-2013) and as a part-time web designer (2013-2014). The website when I arrived was a static HTML website. I coordinated a college wide project to revise all content, move to a content management system (WordPress), developed a style guide, and trained employees from each department to edit their content. The design was based on three months of interviews, focus groups, and surveys with students, faculty, staff, and local community members. Major changes made from this research was to remove faculty and staff content from the public website in order to encourage a more student-centered experience, improved accessibility and usability, and new a navigation system built around student experiences instead of institutional organizations. This project also involved the development of multiple custom WordPress plugins for managing editorial workflows and college specific content. (Please note that the center slide in the image to the right was designed by the Rowan-Cabarrus graphic design department after I left.)

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College has spent more than 50 years serving Rowan and Cabarrus counties, ultimately educating nearly 650,000 individuals. Over time, the College has progressively evolved in response to the community’s workforce and economic development needs, annually serving more than 20,000 individuals on our seven campuses and sites across two counties.
